Michelle Samson, Ec.D., is an Economic Development Officer with the City of Vaughan, Ontario, where she is responsible for economic development marketing and business development city-wide but with a particular emphasis on the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre (VMC), the downtown Vaughan is building from scratch.
Michelle joined Vaughan in August 2018 and has quickly developed an arsenal of innovative and impactful marketing products. These include a collection of in-demand print materials, the recently launched Vaughan Rising Podcast, and a 360 degree virtual tour of the VMC.
Her work for Vaughan and other communities in Ontario has been recognized by the International Economic Developers Council (IEDC) and Economic Developers Council of Ontario (EDCO), and she has spoken at conferences in Ontario and Michigan.
Michelle has a master’s degree in local economic development from the University of Waterloo and a multicoloured background in economic development consulting, international trade, professional development, communications, and broadcast journalism. She also serves on EDCO’s Board of Directors.
