Dixon LaMar Holmes, is the Division Director -Provo City Mayor’s Office of Economic Development.

Dixon has been with Provo City since 1994, when Leland Gamette, the Economic Development director at the time, recognized that good interns make a good full time employee. He has had a variety of job titles in both Community and Economic Development. Dixon started as a Project Plan Coordinator, then Zoning Administrator in Community Development, before joining Economic Development. He graduated from Brigham Young University, where he received both his undergraduate in Geography/Land Use Planning and Master’s Degree of Public Administration.

Dixon currently leads the team in the Mayor’s Office of Economic Development that focuses on enhancing the local quality of life through promoting job growth, capital investment and increasing the City tax base. Major initiatives include a first ever, city wide economic development strategic plan and retail strategy, redevelopment of the former Ironton property into a successful business park, working with developers on various commercial projects in Provo and assisting in the revitalization of downtown Provo into a high density place to do business, dine, shop and live.

Dixon recently worked with Duncan Aviation at the Provo Municipal Airport with the opening of a 250,000 square foot private and corporate jet aircraft maintenance and service center, which will employee 500 people at full compliment. At present, Dixon is working with the Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions and the Noorda College of Osteopathic Medicine for their new campus to be built on the northwest corner of the East Bay Golf Course. He is also assisting other City Departments on the improvements at the Provo Towne Centre Mall, the Mix at River’s Edge (formerly the Plum Tree Plaza), the Shops at Riverwoods and the East Bay Shopping Center.

Dixon and his wife Michele have been married for 30 years and are the proud parents of 5 children and 4 grandchildren. When not at work Dixon enjoys time with his family, making and giving away sour dough bread, road cycling and he recently finished his second Ironman competition.
