Dear International Economic Development Council,

As the Mayor of the City of Atlanta, I would like to welcome everyone to the International Economic Development Council's (IEDC) 2018 annual conference.

The City of Atlanta is experiencing record-setting growth, thanks in large part to our commitment to economic development programs through organizations such as Invest Atlanta. Through the use of targeted strategies, we have successfully created and expanded partnerships with the business community that have led to momentous job creation and accelerated growth in our economy.

In the past decade, the City of Atlanta has created more than 45,200 jobs through strategic economic development initiatives – generating more than $17 billion from attracted investments. Together, we have enhanced our status as a leading international destination for businesses of all sizes—from Fortune 500 companies to entrepreneurial startups– all are thriving in Atlanta.

During this time of historic growth, our commitment to inclusiveness and equity remains a top priority. By creating a thriving business environment, we are attracting and retaining millennial talent in record numbers, while at the same time, revitalizing established neighborhoods, including our historic communities on the Westside, by strengthening our existing workforce and expanding opportunities for more affordable housing options. Additionally, our expanding transportation options, with projects such as the Atlanta BeltLine and Summerhill Bus Rapid Transit with MARTA, are improving connectivity and providing greater access to world-class greenspace.

Through public-private partnerships we are bringing together corporate, community, and governmental partners to work for One Atlanta.

Thank you for choosing to bring the IEDC annual conference to Atlanta. It is our pleasure to welcome you and share our southern hospitality. During your time here, I hope you have an opportunity to explore all our great city has to offer.

Sincerely,

Keisha Lance Bottoms
