Tsedey Betru brings years of experience in organizational management, policy analysis and community organizing to her role as Invest Atlanta’s Manager of Community Affairs & Strategic Initiatives. Originally from Ethiopia, Tsedey’s experiences immigrating to the U.S. and growing up in Memphis led her to pursue studies in Urban and Regional Development. After college, Tsedey cut her teeth in grassroots organizing, then returned to graduate school to study urban policy analysis. She’s provided research support to national initiatives like the Living Cities funder collaborative and urban policy think tanks like The Drum Major Institute for Public Policy. After twelve years in New York, Tsedey returned to her hometown of Memphis, TN as a member of the Mayor’s Innovation Delivery Team, and then as Vice President of Community LIFT’s the city’s community development intermediary.
