Fred Glickman, the founder and principal of Thrive Global Advisory has over 35 years of international experience in both the public and private sectors.  During his career Fred has performed assignments in more than 30 countries on 5 continents and during his career he lived and worked in the Ivory Coast, Bahrain and Kuwait as well as spending considerable time in the UK, France, Spain, South Africa and Saudi Arabia. He has significant international experience in international business development, strategic planning and communications, led culturally diverse teams of professionals, managed overseas operations, missions and programs.  

Prior to launching Thrive Global Advisory, he served as Vice President, International Operations for Enterprise Florida, a public-private partnership which is responsible for economic development for the State of Florida.  During his 21 years at Enterprise Florida, he was responsible for setting up and managing a global network of commercial offices for Florida that assisted Florida’s small and mid-sized companies to export their products and/or services overseas and to attract foreign direct investment into the state.   In addition to this responsibility, he obtained significant experience organizing numerous high-level business development missions that obtained foreign direct investment opportunities and/or developed trade deals for Florida companies.  During his tenure at Enterprise Florida, Fred established numerous international strategic alliances for Florida with foreign partners, including foreign national, state and local economic development agencies, ministries and industry/business associations.

Fred provided counsel to Florida stakeholders including senior state officials, business leaders, economic development organizations and to small and mid-sized companies on opportunities and how to do business in foreign markets.

Prior to joining Enterprise Florida, he was the Director, Middle East, based in Bahrain and Kuwait, for the Rendon Group, a Washington, D.C. strategic communications firm.  While in the Middle East, he expanded the client base from Kuwait to clients that covered the entire Pan Arab market including major multinational corporations.  While in the Middle East, he directed a team of communications professionals to conduct PR activities in collaboration with MEMAC, Ogilvy & Mather’s Middle Eastern affiliate.

Fred’s other international experience includes directing global marketing and production of foreign cultural and educational television and videos for Eagle Multimedia Group, a Spanish owned company based in New York.  Their clients included multilateral organizations, foreign governments, television networks and major U.S. publishers.  Fred obtained his initial international experience as a Foreign Service Officer for the United States Agency for International Development in Washington, D.C. and the Ivory Coast.

He has done extensive public speaking overseas including in India, Saudi Arabia, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Israel, South Africa, Ivory Coast, and France.  Fred received his Master’s in City and Regional Planning and BA in Political Science from Rutgers University.
