Chris King is the Economic Development Manager for the County of Grande Prairie. Chris first became an EDO in 2001 working for a small community on the Arctic Ocean. Chris obtained his Ec.D. in 2007 and in 2015 earned his CEcD. Chris is the current President of Economic Development Alberta, as well as past Chair of Community Futures Grande Prairie and Region Board. Chris is also the President of a Community Owned Vodka Company and sits in an advisory role on a number of other company boards.

Prior to settling in Grande Prairie Chris has worked a variety of positions which provides him with an incredibly diverse set of experiences to draw on.

This diversity of background includes such positions as; Chief Administrative Officer, Community Aerodrome Radio Operator, Service Technician, Computer Programmer, Weather Observer, Retail Store Owner, Small Business Banker, Bouncer, Production Manager of a theatre production, Lighting Technician, and Sound Board Operator. These different positions have allowed Chris to work in every Province and territory in Canada as well as the opportunity to interact with a very wide variety of individuals and businesses creating a very large and diverse network.

Chris is currently completing a Masters in Global Management.

With a 7 year old starting grade two and a wife that teaches Nursing at the local College, education and learning is obviously a huge part of home life for Chris. But so too is his passion for Community Economic Development.
