Barry I. Matherly is a certified economic developer with over 24 years of leadership experience at the city, county, regional and university levels. He also interned 3 years for the United States Department of Commerce and worked 6 years in management for a Fortune 500 company. Currently, Barry is President and CEO at the Greater Richmond Partnership, a public/private regional organization that is the single point of contact for domestic and international businesses looking to locate or expand in the Richmond Virginia Region. Mr. Matherly is a Past Chair of the International Economic Development Council and is a member of the Economic Development Research Partners. Barry also serves on the Executive Board of the Economic Development Institute at the University of Oklahoma and is an institute instructor. Locally, Barry serves on the University of Richmond School of Business Executive Advisory Council and the Japan-Virginia Society Board of Directors. In addition, he is a member of the Richmond Real Estate Group, The Forum Club and the Virginia Economic Developers Association. Barry has a bachelor’s degree from James Madison University and a master’s degree from Virginia Tech University. He is also a graduate of the Economic Development Institute.
