Frank Thompson, DBA, CEcD, is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at Troy University in Troy, Alabama. After more than 25 years as an economic developer, Frank went back to college and earned his doctorate in business administration. Six years ago he began teaching marketing, retailing, and supply chain management at Troy University. Thompson served as the local economic developer in several communities in Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia. Most of his communities were micropolitan statistical areas, and he incorporates this experience into his current research where his focus is on rural development. He is currently researching micropolitan statistical areas within the Southeastern United States. Thompson is a professional artist specializing in portraits and bovines. Frank and his wife Trina are certified barbecue judges and judge barbecue competitions throughout the year.
