Bob Carpenter joined the SBA’s Office of Financial Assistance (OFA) as a Financial Analyst in August 2013 and began serving as the Acting Chief of the 7(a) Program in January 2017. Bob’s current duties as Acting Chief of the 7(a) Loan Program Branch include reviewing requests for exception to policy and reconsiderations and discussing such requests with the Director, OFA (D/FA). Bob also assists the D/FA in recommending, developing and implementing SBA Business Loan Program procedures, policies and regulations; developing training syllabuses for Lender Relation Specialists on eligibility, procedures, policies and regulations associated with SOP 50 10 5; and providing guidance and supervision to the 7(a) program team. Bob also interacts and provides assistance for technical questions from District Offices and other SBA staff, CDCs, lenders and borrowers.

Bob has been with SBA since 1990, previously in the Washington Metropolitan Area District Office (WMADO) in the 8(a) Business Development Contracts Division for several years before moving to the Finance Division in 1993.
