Volunteer Service Project
Saturday, September 24 | 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Price: Free, but registration is required

To celebrate the IEDC Annual Conference, up to 50 adult volunteers are invited to assist restoration efforts in one of Cleveland Metroparks' largest conservation efforts of an urban watershed. Join your peers as we journey to the Acacia Reservation, a 155- acre green space oasis among a significantly congested area of the City of Lyndhurst. Transportation from the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland will be provided.

Pitch in. Lend a hand. Join us for this special volunteer service project as we kick-start the 2016 IEDC Annual Conference. This event is free, but only open to conference registrants.


Silent Auction to Benefit the Diane Lupke Scholarship - Donate a gift
Monday, September 26, 3:30 p.m.

IEDC is proud to present a Silent Auction at the 2016 Annual Conference in Cleveland, OH. The Silent Auction will be held in support of the Diane Lupke Scholarship Fund. The Scholarship Fund helps economic development professionals working in distressed communities continue their industry education.

IEDC needs your donations to help make the Silent Auction a success! Your contribution is a great and fun way to give a deserving person the opportunity to take IEDC's professional development courses.

Items will be on display in Exhibit Hall C beginning Sunday, September 25, and bidding will conclude in conjunction with the Ice Cream Social at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, September 26.

Why donate?
Donating items is a great way to showcase and market your community to the largest gathering of economic developers while helping a worthy cause.

What to donate?
Vacation getaways, themed gift baskets, autographed sports items, tickets to events, hotel and inn stays, gift certificates, or other unique items that represent your community. We are unable to accept donations of services.

Where to send your donation?
Please send your items to IEDC as soon as possible (items must be in no later than September 9th; donation forms must be in by September 2nd) along with a copy of the donation form. We will ship all items to the venue.

Workshop: You're on the Board of Directors...Now What?

Board members of economic development organizations expect to play a meaningful role in the success of the organizations they govern. Fully developed boards - in terms of their governing role, structure and processes - that work in close partnership with the CEO benefit both the board of directors and the organization. Participants in this workshop designed specifically for board members will learn how to develop and support a thriving organization, drawing on recent advances in the rapidly changing field of nonprofit governance. This exclusive workshop will feature successful case studies and the opportunity to network with fellow directors from other organizations.

What you'll learn:

- Become familiar with the key characteristics of high-impact boards
- Learn how to participate in identifying new economic development initiatives for organizations
- Become familiar with strategies for maintaining a solid partnership with the CEO, including evaluation of CEO

A light breakfast will be served for workshop attendees.

IEDC extends a special invitation to elected officials and board of directors of EDOs to network and discuss economic development strategies in your community. This lunch is open to all registered attendees of the conference.
