Connecting Workforce and Economic Development through Homeownership Efforts
Workforce recruitment and retention efforts increasingly focus on initiatives that root and bond employees with communities. Underlying these efforts is increasing evidence that the main factors in the recruitment and retention of a skilled workforce are community welcomeness and social offerings, rather than an increase in salary or rank. This session will take an in depth look at programs that are bringing together community organizations - EDOs, charities, educational institutions, and more - to offer homeownership incentives to graduates and professionals in an effort to root these workers in their communities.

What you'll learn:

- Why building community attachment is an important tool for the recruitment and retention of professionals
- Understanding the role of employers and institutions in ensuring their workforce and graduates are connected to their community
- Successful examples of EDOs playing a role in increasing community connectedness
