Just in case you needed another reason to sign up for IEDC's 2016 Annual Conference; the speaker lineup just got even better! The Honorable John Kasich, Governor of Ohio, Columbus, OH has just been confirmed as a speaker for Tuesday's Keynote Lunch at Annual Conference.

First elected as governor in 2010 and reelected in 2014, Governor Kasich has served Ohio since his first term at 26 years old as the youngest person elected to the Ohio State Senate in 1978. Since then, he was elected to the House of Representatives and has run for President twice, including in this year's election.

IEDC is excited to host Governor Kasich as he welcomes the conference to the Buckeye state.

Clarence Anthony
Executive Director
National League of Cities

Clarence Anthony served as the Mayor of South Bay, FL for 24 years. He is known as a creative and thoughtful leader in his community. He is considered an expert in citizen engagement and techniques that build a "sense of community" within cities. Mr. Anthony has been on the forefront of politics in the United States and internationally for the past 20 years, culminating with productive presidencies of the Florida League of Cities and the National League of Cities (NLC), respectively.

As NLC President, Mr. Anthony served as the chief spokesperson of the oldest and largest organization of municipal officials in the United States, representing more than 1,600 cities and towns, as well as 49 state municipal leagues that are members of NLC. He also served as First Vice President of International Union of Local Authorities and as Founding Treasurer of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), the international voice for local governments, for four years. Most recently, he served as the Interim Manager for UCLG. He has continued his involvement with NLC by serving on the Building Committee.


Angela Glover Blackwell

Angela Glover Blackwell, President and Chief Executive Officer, started PolicyLink in 1999 and continues to drive its mission of advancing economic and social equity. Under Blackwell's leadership, PolicyLink has become a leading voice in the movement to use public policy to improve access and opportunity for all low-income people and communities of color, particularly in the areas of health, housing, transportation, education, and infrastructure.

Prior to founding PolicyLink, Blackwell served as Senior Vice President at the Rockefeller Foundation, where she oversaw the foundation's Domestic and Cultural divisions. A lawyer by training, she gained national recognition as founder of the Oakland (CA) Urban Strategies Council, where she pioneered new approaches to neighborhood revitalization. From 1977 to 1987, Blackwell was a partner at Public Advocates, a nationally known public interest law firm.


The Honorable Sherrod Brown

Since January of 2007, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown - a champion of middle-class families in the Senate - has held more than 250 community roundtables across Ohio's 88 counties with students, local leaders and business owners, entrepreneurs and educators, workers and families to find ways to rebuild our economy.

Described as "Congress' leading proponent of American manufacturing," Brown is working with the Obama Administration on the creation of a national manufacturing policy that would invest in manufacturing innovation, strengthen our component supply chain, connect workers with emerging industries, and align our trade policies to promote our national interests.

He is also working with Ohio's universities, entrepreneurs, and community stakeholders to use Ohio's resources to create new jobs in high-growth industries and make Ohio a national leader in clean energy manufacturing.

And as a long-time advocate for fair trade, Senator Brown has stood up to presidents of both parties on shortsighted trade agreements that ship U.S. jobs overseas. He led the bipartisan opposition to NAFTA in 1993 - as a freshman in the U.S. House of Representatives - and to CAFTA in 2005. Sen. Brown is working on trade policies that promote our workers, small businesses, and manufacturers while creating jobs and expanding markets through an aggressive export promotion strategy.


Armond Budish

Armond Budish took office as the County Executive in January of 2015. He is the second Executive to serve in the County’s history. As County Executive, Mr. Budish has outlined a forward looking and innovative agenda to improve the lives of all County residents.

As the Executive, Mr. Budish is committed to creating economic growth and opportunity by taking a coordinated and collaborative approach to building a strong and sustainable future for Cuyahoga County. His administration’s three core strategic initiatives -- fairness and equity, job growth and opportunity and government that gets results are all linked together. The goal? To make sure that every resident no matter the circumstances has the ability to build a better life.


Toby Cosgrove M.D.

As CEO, Dr. Cosgrove presides over an $8 billion healthcare system comprised of the Cleveland Clinic, eight community hospitals, 16 family health and ambulatory surgery centers, Cleveland Clinic Florida, the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health in Las Vegas, Cleveland Clinic Toronto, and Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. His leadership has emphasized patient care and patient experience, including the re-organization of clinical services into patient-centered, organ and disease-based institutes. He launched major wellness initiatives for patients, employees and communities. Under his leadership, Cleveland Clinic has consistently been named among America's top four hospitals (U.S.News & World Report) and is one of only two hospitals named among "America's 99 Most Ethical Companies" (Ethisphere Institute).

Dr. Cosgrove received his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville and completed his clinical training at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston Children's Hospital, and Brook General Hospital in London. His undergraduate work was at Williams College in Williamstown, Mass.

He was a surgeon in the U.S. Air Force and served in Da Nang, Republic of Vietnam, as the Chief of U.S. Air Force Casualty Staging Flight. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Republic of Vietnam Commendation Medal.

Joining Cleveland Clinic in 1975, Dr. Cosgrove was named chairman of the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular surgery in 1989. Under his leadership, Cleveland Clinic's heart program was ranked No. 1 in America for 10 years in a row (U.S.News & World Report).


Dan Gilbert
Founder and Chairman, Quicken Loans and Rock Ventures Majority Owner, 2016 NBA Champion Cleveland Cavaliers

Dan Gilbert is Founder and Chairman of Quicken Loans Inc., the nation's second largest mortgage lender. He is also Founder and Chairman of Rock Ventures LLC, the umbrella entity for his portfolio of business and real estate investments, and majority owner of the 2016 NBA Champion Cleveland Cavaliers. Rock Ventures and its more than 100 affiliated companies across the country employ more than 25,000 team members.

Since 2013, Detroit-based Quicken Loans closed $220 billion in home loan volume across all 50 states, and in 2015, for the sixth consecutive year, earned J.D. Power's highest rating for client satisfaction among all U.S. mortgage lenders. Quicken Loans is No. 1 on Computerworld magazine's "100 Best Places to Work in IT" and has been named one of FORTUNE Magazine's "100 Best Companies to Work For" for 13 consecutive years.

Dan is also a shareholder in several sports-related consumer and technology businesses, including a leading wall graphics company (Fathead), electronic ticketing company (Flash Seats) and innovative sports equipment helmet maker (Xenith).


Janet L. Kavandi, PhD

Dr. Janet L. Kavandi serves as Director of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's John H. Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio. In this position, she is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the activities required in accomplishing the missions assigned to the center. Glenn is engaged in research, technology, and systems development in support of the nation's space propulsion, space power, space communications, aeronautical propulsion, microgravity sciences, and materials development programs. The Glenn staff consists of more than 3,200 civil service and support contractor employees and has an annual budget of approximately $625 million. Prior to accepting the director's position, Dr. Kavandi served as Glenn's Deputy Director.

Len Komoroski

Len Komoroski is Chief Executive Officer of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Quicken Loans Arena organization. The organization includes the Lake Erie Monsters (AHL), Cleveland Gladiators (AFL), and Canton Charge (NBADL). In addition, he plays a leadership role for business operations and business-related endeavors for Cavs majority owner Dan Gilbert's family of sports and entertainment interests in Ohio. He is also a principal in Rock Gaming, which operates Horseshoe Casino Cleveland. Most recently, he played a significant leadership role in securing Cleveland as the host city for the 2016 Republican National Convention.

With more than 30 years of experience in pro sports and entertainment, Komoroski's leadership has helped set a solid business foundation from which the Cleveland Cavaliers, Lake Erie Monsters, Cleveland Gladiators, Canton Charge and Quicken Loans Arena have flourished into one of the most successfully operated sports and entertainment organizations in the country.


Mathy V. Stanislaus
Assistant Administrator for the Office of Land and Emergency Management
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

Mathy Stanislaus was nominated by President Barack Obama for the position of Assistant Administrator in EPA's Office of Land and Emergency Management (OLEM) on March 31, 2009, and began his service on June 8, 2009, after confirmation by the U.S. Senate.

As Assistant Administrator for OLEM, Mr. Stanislaus leads EPA's programs that revitalize communities through the cleanup and redevelopment of contaminated sites under Superfund, Brownfields, and Resources Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) programs. OLEM also oversees other federal agencies cleanup of contaminated properties, and it advances hazardous and solid waste materials management under RCRA, chemical plant safety, oil spill prevention, underground storage tank program, and emergency response. He regularly testifies before Congress regarding aspects of these programs, including rules and budget.

He is leading the effort to advance the transition to a circular economy through a life-cycle based sustainable materials management approach. This effort involves his representing the U.S. at G7 deliberations and in the G7 Alliance for Resources Efficiency to promote best practices and foster innovation to address the challenges of resource efficiency. This alliance provides a forum for businesses and stakeholders from the public sector, research institutions, academia, and consumers to exchange information on resource efficiency.


Michael Lyons

Michael P. Lyons is executive vice president and head of Corporate & Institutional Banking.

Before joining PNC in October 2011, Lyons served as global head of corporate development and strategic planning for Bank of America. In that role he was primarily responsible for repositioning Bank of America's balance sheet to help the company focus on its core businesses and growth strategy. He was also responsible for mergers and acquisitions, the private equity business, the LaSalle trust and custody business, investor relations and the bank's strategic partnership and investment in China Construction Bank.


Brad Whitehead

In his role as president of the Fund, Brad pretends to direct staff activities and facilitates member engagement in accomplishing the Fund's mission. Brad worked with others to establish the Fund in 2004 while a Senior Fellow at The Cleveland Foundation. As those who work with him can attest, Brad is a recovering consultant. Prior to his "one year leave" to serve as Senior Fellow, Brad was a senior partner at McKinsey & Company, where he worked for 20 years. He worked throughout North America and Europe on a broad range of business management and public policy issues. He co-founded the Firm's North American Environment Practice and was a global leader of its Growth & Business Building practice.


The Honorable Jay Williams

Jay Williams was appointed by President Obama to serve as the Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development and was sworn into office on Tuesday, May 20, 2014.

As the Administrator of the U.S. Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration (EDA), Williams is charged with leading the federal economic development agenda by promoting innovation and competitiveness, preparing American regions for growth and success in the global economy.
