What Questions Would You Ask a Healthcare CEO?

2013 International Economic Development Council Annual Conference
Philadelphia Downtown Marriott, October 6-9, 2013
#IEDCPHL

Increasingly a stable source of jobs and good wages for workers at multiple skill levels, the health care sector is transforming across the world. What does the future look like in health care and economic development, and how can you position your community to capitalize?

Send in your questions for Dan Hilferty, CEO of Independence Blue Cross.

Join IEDC in Philadelphia at the Keynote Luncheon for this year's Annual Conference, where Daniel Hilferty, CEO of Independence Blue Cross, will discuss health care innovation and answer questions from economic developers in a “fireside chat” moderated by Dr. Brian McDonough, Medical Director for KYW Newsradio in Philadelphia.

To ask a question for Mr. Hilferty, simply send your query to proposals@iedconline.org by Friday, September 20, 2013. Responses will be kept anonymous and sent to Dr. McDonough for inclusion in a dynamic Q+A with the leader of one of southeastern Pennsylvania's leading health insurers.

Attendance at the keynote luncheon is included with registration for the 2013 IEDC Annual Conference, so whether you're close to Philadelphia or coming from out of town, register today to attend this unique event.

Free Workshop for Disaster-Impacted Communities on Small Business Financing Held at Annual Conference

Small Business Financing for Economic Recovery Workshop
Held in conjunction with IEDC's 2013 Annual Conference

Monday, October 7, 2013 | 1:30 - 5:30 pm

Small businesses are the cornerstone of many local economies. We have seen within recent years that both natural and man-made disasters can seriously impact local, regional and national economies. Following a disaster, one of the biggest demands of small businesses is financial support for rebuilding, business continuation and growth. This workshop brings economic developers together to explore tactics to aid small businesses in identifying funding sources and strategies. Interactive opportunities will allow attendees to meet peers in the economic recovery process and create a learning network.

This free workshop is directed at public and private sector representatives that work in economic development. We strongly encourage participation of representatives from economic development organizations, chamber of commerce, economic development planning districts, business councils, and public officials. Attendance at this workshop is by advance registration only.

Register for the workshop. Attendance at this workshop is by advance registration only.

Communities will have the opportunity to receive feedback and recommendations from experienced consultants and practitioners at the Annual Conference for 90 minutes. • Business retention and expansion
• Community branding and marketing strategy
• Small business financing strategies
• Strengthening the entrepreneurship ecosystem

Interested communities should apply here. Consultants and disaster experienced practitioners interested in mentoring should apply here. Eligible communities must be located within presidentially-declared counties within EDA's Atlanta and Philadelphia regions. Mentors will receive two level II CEcD recertification points.

The workshop and mentoring sessions are funded in part by the U.S. Commerce Department's Economic Development Administration. Should you have any questions contact Dana Crater at dcrater@iedconline.org.
