Discover How Economic Gardening Can Accelerate Growth For Your Companies
Wednesday, January 22 | 2:30 - 4:00 pm EST
Economic Gardening® has become a major buzzword in economic development circles because of its ability to boost regional prosperity by helping existing companies to expand. Yet there are many misperceptions of this growth strategy - people often think they're practicing Economic gardening when, in reality, they're employing traditional economic development tactics. Economic Gardening isn't about connecting entrepreneurs with support institutions or helping them with workforce development or tax credits. It's about leveraging sophisticated research tools and focusing on very strategic growth issues.
Speakers:
|
Chris Gibbons Founder National Center for Economic Gardening Littleton, CO |
|
|
Penny Lewandowski Vice President, Entrepreneurship and Strategic Direction Edward Lowe Foundation Cassopolis, MI |

Raising the Bar Together: Successful Strategies for Workforce and Economic Development Collaboration
A community's workforce is of fundamental importance for economic growth. To meet the needs of today's companies, and to sufficiently educate workers for the demands of the knowledge economy, economic development organizations must collaborate with workforce development organizations and other stakeholders, including their partners in business and education. IEDC's paper, “Raising the Bar Together: Successful Strategies for Workforce and Economic Development Collaboration” distills best practices in collaborative efforts that leverage the strengths and resources of all partners to create a sustainable labor force.
