Irene Alvarez serves as Vice President, Brand Marketing and Communications for the Columbus Partnership. She leads initiatives across various sectors of the community to meet Columbus Region marketing objectives, drives community-wide efforts to build the Columbus brand, and aligns marketing and communications activity among the Columbus Partnership and its teams at Columbus 2020 and Smart Columbus.

Prior to her role at the Columbus Partnership, Irene was managing director of marketing and communications at Columbus 2020 where she led the organization’s marketing and media relations programs. Under Irene’s leadership, Columbus 2020 won dozens of national and international recognitions for its marketing efforts including brand development, websites, promotional materials, and integrated campaigns.

Irene has spent over a decade working in tourism, advertising, and economic development. She helped lead the development of the Columbus brand and the One of US campaign that has been adopted by dozens of organizations throughout the Columbus Region, and is a frequent speaker on community marketing and brand development.

Irene is a recipient of Columbus Business First’s Forty Under 40 award, a 2019 Econ Dev 40 Under 40 Winner, and recently completed the Young American Leaders Program at the Harvard Business School. She holds a Bachelor of Science in communication from Ohio University.
