Julie is the President of the Economic Development practice, and an agency Partner at Development Counsellors International (DCI), an economic development marketing firm based in New York City. Since joining DCI in 1994, Julie has worked with dozens of economic development organizations around the globe to help them position their communities for investment through integrated and creative marketing programs. With clients ranging from Dothan, Alabama to San Diego, California and everywhere in between, Julie’s passion for “place marketing” has resulted in award-winning campaigns.

Articles about her client communities have appeared in media such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Newsweek and CNN.

Julie’s approach to building integrated marketing campaigns starts with a strategic mind and a strong understanding of how to advance the reputation, generate results, and build relationships in each community in which she serves. This approach has positioned Julie as a-well-respected place marketing thought leader across both the U.S. and Canada.

Julie is a frequent speaker and facilitator for economic development marketing and media workshops around North America, with an expertise in topics ranging from marketing your community for investment, talent attraction, branding, and harnessing the power of social & digital media for communities.

In 2013 Julie founded and launched The DCI Marketing Summit, the only peer-led annual gathering of senior-level economic development marketing minds in the country to share best and “next” practices in economic development. Attended by roughly 20 of the top minds in the industry each year, the event promotes collaboration, networking and ideation around place marketing at the city, regional, province and state levels.

Julie is a member of the Executive Committee of PRSA’s Counselors Academy; served as an industry advisor on the inaugural launch of IEDC’s Young Professionals programming at their annual conference; and has served in numerous roles for IEDC, including on the Membership Committee.

Before joining Development Counsellors International in 1994, Julie coordinated media placements and special events for prominent clients at Howard J. Rubenstein Associates, a New York-based public relations firm specializing in real estate, entertainment and celebrity accounts.

Julie graduated with a Journalism degree from The University of Kansas, and resides in Denver, Colorado with her husband and four children. "
