Sergio is Director of OCO Global Latin America. Based in Bogotá, Colombia, Sergio currently leads OCO’s consulting, trade & investment operations and manages the company’s growing network of partnerships in the region.

Since 2014, he has held senior positions at the Colombian government, working most recently as Director of Productive Inclusion at Colombia’s Department of Social Development, leading a team of more than 200 staff in charge of partnering with private sector, government and international cooperation institutions, to provide private sector development opportunities targeted at vulnerable communities across the country. In this position Sergio oversaw the implementation of a budget of more than 200 USD million on social programmes and projects across many regions.

Prior to joining the Colombian government, Sergio worked from 2011 to 2014 at OCO Global’s office in London where he managed training, consulting and investment lead generation projects with government clients such as CORFO/Invest Chile, Uruguay XXI, Missouri Economic Development Department, Enterprise Florida, Invest Pacific (Colombia), ProBarranquilla (Colombia), UKTI, Cincinnati USA Partnership, INDI Minas Gerais (Brazil), Invest in Tuscany, Ontario Ministry of Economic Development, etc. In 2013/2014, he supported the British Columbia Trade & Investment office in London, particularly facilitating trade and investment promotion in the UK and Spain. He personally worked with a portfolio of more than 100 trade clients from British Columbia (Canada) across many industries such as digital media, ICT, aerospace, among others, helping them achieve trade deals in the European market through advice and connections at trade shows.

Before joining OCO Global in Europe, Sergio worked extensively in economic development and investment promotion in his home region of Barranquilla (Colombia), as Investment Promotion Coordinator of ProBarranquilla, leading his region’s economic development strategy across many sectors, particularly on ICT & BPO, attracting and facilitating the establishment of more than 70 companies and more than 200 USD million on investment deals.

Sergio holds a BA in International Relations and an MSc (Distinction) in Development Administration and Planning from UCL, University College London. He speaks fluently in English and Spanish, and has a working knowledge of French and (Brazilian) Portuguese.
