Debbie Burkart, National Vice President, Supportive Housing for the National Equity Fund (NEF), the largest non-profit syndicator of low income housing tax credits. Since 1992, Ms. Burkart has underwritten supportive housing and, starting in 1998, assisted living investments for NEF's funds. Ms. Burkart has assisted in the acquisition and/or underwriting of over $1 Billion in tax credit equity for special needs projects during her 25-year tenure at NEF, including over 4,000 units of housing for homeless veterans in 15 states. She’s raised over $4 million in predevelopment grant funding for veterans projects through LISC-NEF’s Bring Them HOMES. She is a nationally recognized expert on affordable seniors housing and supportive housing financing and policy. In 2008, she became a National Coalition for Homeless Veterans Board member and recently joined CSH’s Board. She graduated from Duke University and received master’s degrees in business administration and city and regional planning from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
