Jeanine Jerkovic has served as the Economic Development Director of the City of Surprise since December 2014, previously serving as the City of Surprise Economic Development Manager from 2006-2010. In 2009, Jeanine launched the AZ TechCelerator, a self-sustaining community business incubator/accelerator program located in Surprise that has helped generate more than 250 tech jobs and is now anchored by Google. Previous economic development experience includes Arizona-based positions with the City of Peoria, the City of Glendale, and serving as a Trade Commissioner for the Canadian Consulate in Phoenix. Jeanine also previously worked at the Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC) in the positions of Media Relations Director as well as Vice President of International Programs. Jeanine is currently the Chair of GPEC Economic Development Directors Team, the Board Secretary for the Metro Phoenix Export Alliance (MPEXA), and on the Board of the Thunderbird Angel Network. She has a B.A. from Arizona State University Honors College in Political Science and German language and has a Master’s degree in Comparative Politics from the London School of Economics. Jeanine and her husband Velko and 2 children live in Surprise, Arizona.
