Larisa Ortiz is an award winning consultant, speaker, and author in the field of commercial district revitalization. Larisa founded LOA in 2008, and since then has developed retail market and implementation strategies for over 100 districts worldwide. Larisa is the author of “Improving Tenant Mix: A Guide for Commercial District Practitioners” (ICSC, 2015), “Real Estate Redevelopment and Reuse” (IEDC, 2000) and is founder and editor of The Commercial District Advisor newsletter and blog. Larisa started her career as a research associate at IEDC and has held numerous public and private sector positions since. She currently serves on the New York City Planning Commission and on the boards of the International Downtown Association and the Business Center for New Americans. She is co-chair of the OneNYC Advisory Committee and serves and as the Eastern Division Co-Chair for the ICSC P3 Retail program. A Watson Fellow and Fulbright Scholar, Larisa holds a Master in City Planning from MIT and is an instructor at Pratt Institute.
