Lori Stahlbrand is a member of the Food Strategy Team at the City of Toronto, responsible for the Toronto Food Policy Council, one of the leading food policy councils in the world. Prior to joining the City of Toronto, Lori was a lecturer in food studies at New College, University of Toronto. She holds a PhD in Geography from Wilfrid Laurier University. Her research focuses on the role of creative public procurement in promoting sustainable food systems in Canada and the UK. As a former NGO leader who promoted local and sustainable food procurement as a tool for regional economic development, Lori’s unique perspective is informed by both practice and theory. Prior to engaging with food issues, Lori was a nationally-recognized journalist and broadcaster with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
